Watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem

Isaiah 62 I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,
and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.

Zechariah 2:5 ‘And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will
be its glory within.’

Psalm 121 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let
your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

ANZAC’s and The Light Horseman Mandate

The ANZAC forces, particularly the Australian Light Horse, played a decisive role in the
Middle Eastern campaign of World War I, most famously through the 1917 charge at
Beersheba. Their victory broke the Ottoman defensive line, enabling Allied forces to
advance through southern Palestine and eventually liberate Jerusalem after four
centuries of Ottoman rule. This breakthrough dismantled the regional stronghold that
had long restricted Jewish aspirations for national restoration. The Light Horsemen’s
courage, discipline, and strategic impact opened the way for the British to take control of the land, creating the political conditions in which new possibilities for Jewish selfdetermination could emerge.
This military success directly contributed to the environment that allowed the Balfour
Declaration—issued just days after the Beersheba victory—to gain traction and
eventually shape international policy. Under British administration, Jewish immigration
increased, infrastructure developed, and the foundations of a future state began to take form. While the rebirth of Israel in 1948 was the result of many global forces, the
Australian Light Horse stands out as a pivotal catalyst. Their actions helped shift the
course of history, clearing the path for the Jewish people to return to their ancestral
homeland and ultimately establish the modern State of Israel.

ALIYAH

2 Chronicles 6:6 & 7:16

“I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name may be there forever; and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.”

Scripture makes it clear that Jerusalem is where God abides—where His footstool and throne are found. Like the loving Father that He is, He makes known to his children thatHis heart’s desire is to dwell in their midst forever!
“For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: ‘This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.’” – Psalm 132:13-14
“…this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever.” – Ezekiel 43:7

“So, you shall know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy … For the Lord dwells in Zion.” – Joel 3:17-21

Zephaniah 3:20
At that time, I will gather you; at that time, I will bring you home.

I will give you honour and praise among all the peoples of the earth
when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes,” says the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:3-14
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
“Hear the word of the Lord, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:
‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a
shepherd.’ For the Lord will deliver Jacob and redeem them from the hand of those stronger than they.
They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the Lord – the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, the young of the flocks and herds.
They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more. Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. I will satisfy the priests with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty,” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:31-36
This is what the Lord says, He who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar – the Lord Almighty is his name: “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,” declares the Lord,
“will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.” Not unless the sun and the moon cease to exist, will my people ever cease to be a nation before me.

Jeremiah 24:6-7
My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

Ezekiel 36:25-30
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;
I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring famine upon you. I will increase the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field, so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famine.

Psalm 121
He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
